Wusthof is a family company founded in 1814. They started out making scissors in the founders basement. They eventually expanded their product line to include over 1200 knives for chefs and butchers.
Their factory was thankfully spared during WWII allowing them to keep production going but this also handicapped them as their competitors built newer, more modern facilities. Due to good management the company was able to survive and introduce new products such as the Classic Series which is still in production today.
They continue to make high quality knives that maintain their sharpness for professional chefs as well as the home chef that enjoys the cooking experience.
